The German wine industry endured a lot in the 20th Century, including wars, occupation, and ultimately a collapse in demand. Fast forward to today and we find the Germans fighting back, shaking off the perception that they are simply a source for cheap, sweet Liebfraumilch, and presenting vintage after vintage of world-class and interesting wines, both dry and sweet, red and white. What's more, these wines often represent teriffic value!
