Story: A history of farming the Valley has been in the Corkrum family for over 130 years. Shari Corkrum Derby’s grandfather bought land in the mid 1800’s and successfully farmed there until the great depression of 1893. After losing everything, he started again with the land that is now planted with rows of vine. The vines we see today were originally planted in 1993 and gave their first bottled wine in 1999. Today winemaker Serge Laville continues to push for consistent high quality for every wine that he makes.
Producer: Serge Laville Region: Walla Walla Valley, Washington State
Grapes: 53% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Franc, 8% Petit Verdot, 3% Malbec
Alcohol: 14.9%
Tasting Notes: This is the tenth vintage that has been produced of this blend. It shows stunning complexity of fruit, with bright currants, cloves, liquorice, cigar box and hints of almonds and pepper. This fruit is well balanced by the acidity and tannin backbone which leads on to a long finish
Food pairing: Slow cooked steak with pepper sauce.
