Story: Matakana Estate is a family-owned winery with a dual mission: to offer exceptional wines from the Matakana region itself, be it the lush Pinot Gris or densely spicy Syrah, while also producing first-rate examples of other varieties from vineyards in Hawkes Bay and Marlborough. Their philosophy is to ‘do the winemaking in the vineyard’, with the winery team closely involved in all aspects of the viticulture. That way, the intrinsic qualities of these great sites can shine through clearly in the glass.
